Good News! Here is Something NOT cancelled: MAY 9 Spring Bird Count

The annual Spring Bird Count is a traditional data gathering event that is useful in avian studies to monitor migrating and nesting bird species. Though COVID-19 concerns have changed the modus operandi a little bit, birders who can identify species by sight or calls are encouraged to take part. This year participants are welcome to stay at home and count bird species and numbers, bird by car, or bird in parks where social distancing is possible.

Please call our compiler, Mary Jane Easterday, at 217-213-8359 or email her at birdeaster@hotmail.com for more information on this Saturday, May 9 event.

Marilyn Campbell’s Trail Dedication

Due to COVID-19 virus concerns, the Beech Grove trail dedication in memory of Marilyn Campbell set to take place on May 30th is on hold. We had looked forward to having a celebration of the newly renovated trail but decided that it was in the best interest of all concerned to postpone for now. When it is safe to again gather in large groups, we will let everyone know the revised date.
