Join us Thursday, October 23, 7:00pm at the Danville Public Library for our October Program. Mary Kay Solecki, from the Illinois Nature Preserves Commission, will present her program, “Saving the Best of Illinois’ Natural Areas: 50 Years of Conserving Nature.” Snacks will be provided after the program.

Join us September 25, at 7:00pm for our September program at the Danville Public Library. Bill Handel, botanist from the Illinois Natural History Survey, will present his talk, “Medicinal Plants, Past, Present, and Future.” Snacks will be provided after the program.

Picnic:  June 26 @ 6:30pm 

We start the summer off with a picnic at Kennekuk County Park’s Hickory Hollow Shelter.  Plates, cups, and plastic ware will be provided. Bring a favorite covered dish to share. No program in July

Other than the first Sunday of the Month Fieldtrip, there are no events scheduled for the month of July. See you at the boardwalk!

First Sunday of the Month Boardwalk Fieldtrips

The next three fieldtrips are schedule for:

• July 6 – 4:00 pm
• August 3 – 4:00 pm
• September 7 – 4:00 pm

The fieldtrips take place at Heron County Park, located on the north end of Vermillion Lake. Access the wetland boardwalk from West Newell Road (head west on West Newell Road from the Danville Wal-mart). More information about the park is available on VCCD’s website.

Potluck and Member Slideshow: August 28 @ 6:30pm

August is our annual member slideshow and potluck. We meet at VCCD’s Forest Glen Preserve in the Gannett Outdoor Education Center.
Be sure to print photos for the slideshow (on a flash drive or cd) and a covered dish to share.
