Hope you can join us Sat, April 29th as we learn how to identify those tricky spring warblers and other feathered friends in our area! Check out the attached flier for details. Bring binoculars and come prepared to go looking for birds outdoors before the program begins.
Middlefork Audubon thanks you once again for another year of hard work and dedication to the nest box monitoring in Vermilion County!
We hope you can join us for an evening together – a little different than usual due to the ongoing concern with COVID-19. We will be meeting outside under the big oaks at the White Oak Barn (near the Education Center) at Kennekuk. We also have the option of opening up the barn and using the shelter in case of inclement weather. Instead of the usual potluck, please bring your own picnic dinner and drinks and we’ll provide water for the meal and locally made cupcakes for dessert! There will be the standard picnic tables and benches, but if you prefer something more comfortable, bring your favorite lawn chair.
As we wrap up a rather sparse 2020 bluebird nesting season and anticipate the return of more Eastern bluebirds next year, I thought you might enjoy this delightful poem by Henry David Thoreau taken from the online companion to Watching Backyard Birds. Enjoy!
