Looking for a great way to enjoy one of these lovely summer evenings? On Friday, July 29th, Middlefork Audubon is planning a trip to the Oakwood area (between Champaign and Danville) to view hummingbirds at a private home followed by a stop down the road at Sleepy Creek Vineyard for a refreshing slushie or glass of wine. Bring your binoculars, a lawn chair, and a picnic basket if you want goodies to go with your wine or, Friday nights it’s “Wieners and Wine” at the winery- they provide the hot dogs, fixin’s and the fire, it’s free but they ask you to buy a drink while there. They also have local cheeses and misc snack foods for sale.
Meet at the Oakwood truck stop parking lot (off I-74) at 5:30PM. From there we will drive to the home site to view the hummers followed by a trip to the winery for drinks and a picnic.
